A Summer Wedding in Moritzburg – Painted Live at the Räuberhütte

In the summer of 2024, I had the honor of accompanying a very special celebration as a wedding painter: a small, cozy wedding at the charming Räuberhütte in Moritzburg, just a stone’s throw from Dresden. This lovingly planned outdoor ceremony was full of warmth, connection to nature, and deep family bonds – and I was right in the middle of it, with my easel and brushes.
A Unique and Personal Wedding Ceremony
The couple chose to have their ceremony outdoors, surrounded by tall trees and the soft rustling of the forest. It was an intimate gathering with only the most important people present: parents, siblings, children, colleagues, and closest friends.
They had something truly special in mind for their symbolic wedding ritual. Everyone gathered on a meadow, forming a circle around the couple. A thread connected them all, held in each person’s hands, symbolizing unity and love. The bride and groom read heartfelt vows to each other and then exchanged rings.It was this touching moment that I captured on canvas. Painting this live, surrounded by so much emotion, was a deeply moving experience – and a true honor.
My painting spot was set up inside the Räuberhütte, where it was pleasantly cooler than outside – which was much needed, as the summer heat that day was intense. The high temperatures made painting more challenging, and I had to take several breaks. That meant I didn’t progress as far on the painting as I had hoped during the event.
Still, the guests – and especially the couple – were thrilled to see the painting come to life. Everyone was so warm and welcoming that I felt like part of the family. For the couple, the painting wasn’t just a memory – it became an emotional anchor, a meaningful piece of art that will forever remind them of this unique day.
I completed the painting in my studio after the wedding and delivered it to them in person. Today, it hangs beautifully framed in their home – a timeless keepsake of a perfect day.
